Signs That Your Dirt Bike May Need a Fork Rebuild

  • Oil Leaks. One sign that you likely need a fork rebuild is oil leaking from the fork seals. This oil is part of your suspension system, and it helps control your steering and brakes. If you notice oil leaking out for your fork seals, we encourage you to give us a call to have your bike serviced right away. In addition, you can test for oil leaks by running a clean cloth around your bike’s shocks by the seals to remove any stains. Then, go for a ride and test the area again with another clean cloth once you get back—if the second cloth comes away dirty, then oil is definitely leaking from your forks, and you should get that addressed as soon as possible.
  • Performance Issues. Another way to tell if your bike needs a fork rebuild is to pay attention to its performance and the smoothness of your ride—if you notice that the bike is getting harder to control, or that your ride is rougher than it used to be, you should get your forks checked out.
